A hand-carved wooden elephant captured mid-step — head turned slightly, the unmistakable rhythm of an animal in motion held still in solid wood. The carving is worked from a single piece, the smooth, polished surface of the figure following the grain through the curve of the back, the bend of the legs, and the soft folds at the joints.

The elephant rests on a base of raw parasite wood, left in its natural form. Parasite wood — known as jempinis or jempinis batu in Indonesia — comes from trees that have been overgrown by parasitic vines, and the resulting timber carries the distinctive twisting grain, hollowed sections, and organic textures of that growth process. Because each base is shaped by the wood's own history, no two pieces are alike. What you receive is the carving you see in the photograph, not a representative example of a mass-produced run.

In Hindu and Buddhist symbolism, the elephant is associated with wisdom, patience, strength, and the removal of obstacles — a creature both deeply gentle and quietly powerful. As a gift or as a piece for the home, it carries weight beyond the decorative.

The contrast between the smooth, finished elephant and the rough, irregular base gives the piece visual interest and tactile depth, suiting it equally to shelves, desks, mantelpieces, console tables, or as a small statement on a hallway side. It works well in interiors that lean natural, earthy, or thoughtfully spare.

Hand-carved by Indonesian artisans. Small variations in finish, grain, and base form are part of what you receive.

Sacred Tool Care

To keep your spiritual tools in optimal condition, cleanse crystals regularly using running water (avoid for water-soluble stones like selenite), salt water soaks, burying in salt or earth, or smudging with sage or palo santo smoke. Condition leather items occasionally with natural leather cream to prevent cracking, and store away from direct sunlight and moisture. Clean singing bowls with a soft cloth or mild soap and water, avoiding harsh chemicals, and store on padded surfaces to protect their resonance. Handle all your sacred tools with care and respect to maintain their quality and spiritual effectiveness.
